In the West Bohemian town of Ostrov stands the renovated Princes' Palace. This building is part of the Ostrov Chateau complex, with an art gallery located nearby. The palace is surrounded by a castle park, which is beautiful both in summer and winter.
Originally a three-winged structure, it was built between 1693 and 1696 by court architect Johann Sockh on the site of an older farmstead known as the White Court. Barrel vaults above the ground floor rooms have been preserved in the building. Today, the palace houses the Ostrov Municipal Library. Within the library, visitors can freely access the Orangery, which serves as a hall for organized events. The library is covered by free wireless internet, available even in the park area. Another interesting feature is the opportunity to explore both modern and historical chronicles of the town.
